Amy Ley

Transfixed at an early age by the harp's unique beauty, Amy Ley weaves together the many threads that connect her passion for music with her employment. She is the Principal Harpist, and often featured soloist, for the Symphonies in Flint, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario, and has held the Principal harp position in the Lansing Symphony, Ann Arbor Symphony and Saginaw Bay Orchestras. She also performs with the Grand Rapids Symphony, National Ballet Orchestra in Toronto, Kitchner-Waterloo Symphony, Orchestra London and Toledo Symphony. 

Amy is the harp instructor at Hillsdale College and the University of Windsor and is a director of the harp program at Blue Lake Fine Arts Festival. Amy also works extensively with elementary age children in her Windsor based Music for Young Children classes.

Championing classical music in her home community of Windsor, Ontario, Amy is a founder, Artistic Director, and regular performer in a new chamber music series called 4th Wall Music. This series aims to connect with new audiences through the collaboration of musicians and a wide range of other local artists. Amy also pursues her love of chamber music as a member of the Michigan Harp Ensemble, the new music ensemble, Brave New Works and on various other stages.

Amy received both her Bachelor and Master degree's from the University of Michigan under Lynne Aspnes. She attended the Harp Colony in Maine, the Aspen Music Festival, the Pacific Music Festival, Pine Mountain Music Festival and was a top prize winner in the Young Professional Division of the American Harp Society competition. 

Amy balances her life as a musician and mom of two with yoga, two book clubs,  and playing with her new puppy.
