Wei-Han Wu

A native of Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, pianist Wei-Han Wu received his Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and Master’s degrees from both University of Michigan and Northwestern. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Juilliard School, the Felicia Montealegre Fellowship from the Tanglewood Music Center, and the Collaborative Piano Fellowship from Bard College. He has performed in venues such as the Chicago Cultural Center, the Kennedy Center, and Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall.

As a vocal coach and accompanist, Mr. Wu has worked with artists such as Vinson Cole, Susanne Mentzer, and Nancy Gustafson. Mr. Wu was rehearsal pianist for the premier of Libby Larson's song cycle "Sifting Through the Ruins" at the Aspen Music Festival. In 2009 he was a participant in the first Castleton Music Festival as opera pianist, by invitation of the late Maestro Lorin Maazel. He recently completely his fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center, where he worked closely with the vocal arts program.

An avid new music performer, Mr. Wu served as pianist for the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble. With the Brave New Works Ensemble he completed residences at University of Michigan, Cornell, Syracuse, and Oklahoma State universities. He has worked with composers such as John Adams, Lee Hyla, Steven Stucky, Osvaldo Golijov, George Tsontakis and John Harbison.

Mr. Wu is currently pursuing two D.M.A. degrees at the Eastman School of Music, and serving as president of OSSIA New Music. His teachers include Nelita True, Jean Barr, James Giles, and Martin Katz.
