Maria Sampen is the Winter 2020 Susan Monahan & Mark Brucks Artist-in-Residence.
Tonight’s Portrait of an Artist performance is made possible by the generosity of Steve and Dianna Woolley.
Violinist Maria Sampen has thrilled WWCMF audiences since the very first Festival performance back on September 22, 2007, and through thirteen subsequent seasons to date. She is a consummate performer, equally at ease in the thorniest of modern compositions, the core solo violin, chamber music and concerto repertoire from J.S. Bach to William Bolcom.
In a career that spans North America, Europe, and Asia, Maria has established herself as one of the leading performers and pedagogues of her generation. In 2019, Maria founded the Puget Sound Virtuoso Strings (PSVS), a group of young musicians from 7th-12th grade who perform around the Puget Sound region.
Tonight, Maria will share her artistry in a program of music by Beethoven, Barber, Beach, and Marilyn Shrude. WWCMF Founder & Artistic Director Timothy Christie moderates. Join us to celebrate a true virtuoso in an intimate recital while enjoying elegant wines from Foundry Vineyards.
ALL SELECTIONS WILL BE ANNOUNCED FROM THE STAGE
